Giuliana De Sio

Actress Giuliana De Sio was born in Salerno, Campania, Italy, in 1956, and grew up in Cava de' Tirreni, her family's town of origin. She made her first public appearance at age five in a show at the Verdi theater in Salerno. Her professional career began in 1976 with the RAI TV film Una donna, followed by roles in Mani sporche and Il malato immaginario alongside Alberto Sordi.

Her breakthrough came in 1982 when Massimo Troisi cast her in Scusate il ritardo, bringing her to the attention of a new generation of directors. She starred in several celebrated films with Francesco Nuti, including Io, Chiara e lo Scuro and Casablanca Casablanca. She is the younger sister of folk musician Teresa De Sio. She is an atheist. She has red hair, brown eyes, and a slim build.
