Biography
About Gabrielle Richens
Gabrielle Richens was born on Saturday, 14 September 1974, in Kent, England, though her parents are from South Africa, and she is of British, Indian, and Chinese extraction. She is a mixed-race British national who has built a career as both a supermodel and a reality TV star. Standing at 5'9" with an average build, brown hair, and brown eyes, she has worked as a model since the age of fifteen, when she signed with the Elite modeling agency. She earned the nickname "The Pleasure Machine" after appearing in an airline commercial, though she has said she does not care for the name. Her popularity has been especially strong in Australia, where she shot to fame after a highly publicised relationship with rugby league player Solomon Haumono. The couple met in a Sydney nightclub, after which Haumono left for the United Kingdom without informing his family or his club, jeopardising his rugby league career. Their relationship generated much debate, but they are no longer together.
Richens leveraged that wave of popularity into magazine appearances, including a spread in Ralph, and she posed nude for Australian Black+White magazine and the March 1999 Australian Playboy edition. She returned to the United Kingdom at the end of 2001. In 2001 she co-presented the television game show The Desert Forges for Five, with Richard Fairbrass, and went on to present 3001: A Sex Oddity, a quirky sex-orientated documentary series, in 2002. She also hosted the short-lived Australian dating show Love Rules. On the reality TV front, she has appeared on two Australian celebrity shows, Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Survivor, and she also appeared in an episode of CSI entitled "Time of Your Death."
She placed in the UK edition of FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in the World in 2002, 2003, and 2004, at 41st, 69th, and 71st respectively. She is a supporter of the British Heart Foundation. She has a belly button piercing and enhanced breasts, and she has done topless-only nudity in her modeling work.
