Gabbie Gonzalez, 24, grew up in Florida, where she developed a love for the ocean and a life spent both in and out of it. She played soccer for Lake Mary High School, and as a teenager she attended the Orlando Surf Expo in 2015, where she met the guys from the surf company Roark. Her surfing ability is no small detail; she has even posted a photo of herself with Kelly Slater, a professional widely regarded as one of the greatest to ever ride a wave.
