Fran Gerard

Fran Gerard, born Fran Anna Camuglia on March 23, 1948, in Staten Island, New York, became Playboy's Playmate of the Month for March 1967. Her pictorial was titled "Stars in Her Eyes." At just 5'2" with a slim build and natural 34F bust, she photographed a 39–24–36 figure. She was the first Playmate ever photographed wearing glasses, a detail that set her apart. At the time, she worked as an astrologer's assistant, reportedly for Los Angeles astrologer Jack Gemini.

Fran's family moved to the Los Angeles area, where she attended Granada Hills High School, graduating with the Class of 1966. She married Jack Cavender in 1966, but the marriage lasted only seven months, ending in divorce in January 1967, shortly after her pictorial was published. She remarried in 1970 to Maximilian Anthony Ray in Las Vegas. Her career as a model was brief, active from 1967 to 1968, and she soon disappeared from public view.

Fran died on May 30, 1985, at age 37, in Fountain View, CA. A post on the Find A Grave website reports that she committed suicide and is buried at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, CA. Though her life was short, she left a lasting mark as a pioneering Playmate who wore glasses in her pictorial, an unusual choice for the era.
