About Elvira Savino
Elvira Savino is an Italian politician with a career that spans more than three decades. Born in Bari, Apulia, Italy, on 6 June 1977, she currently resides in Naples. Her political involvement started early, at age 18, when she ran for local office in Conversano (Bari) with the Communist Refoundation Party.
Savino's academic path includes a degree in Economics and Commerce from the University of Bari in 2003, specializing in economic policy. That same year, she completed a course on continuous improvement of business processes at the Bari Chamber of Commerce, and later earned a master's in European Public Relations from Ateneo Impresa Spa in Rome. Her early career also included work in ICT and new media as a project manager assistant for Business International (Fazi Editore Group), roles in press and communications for the UDC party, collaboration with Rai New Media, and contribution to the editorial project Formiche.
She was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies with The People of Freedom party during the XVI and XVII legislatures, serving as Forza Italia's group leader in the XIV Committee on European Union Policies. After the party's suspension in 2013, she joined Forza Italia, and she was re-elected in the 2018 parliamentary elections for the Puglia constituency, though she was not a candidate in 2022. In her personal life, Savino married entrepreneur Ivan Campili in 2008, with Silvio Berlusconi as a witness, and they have a son, Giovanni. Following their separation, she has been in a relationship with Alessandro Moggi, son of Luciano Moggi. She has been active from 1995 to the present, and she identifies as straight.
