Eliza Coupe

Coupe grew up in Plymouth, New Hampshire, where she attended Plymouth Regional High School and graduated in 1999. She was active in her school's theater program, playing roles like Bonnie in Anything Goes and a Mundy sister in Dancing at Lughnasa. She later graduated from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in 2006. Her heritage includes French, English, and Scottish roots. She has two brothers, Sam and Thom, and her parents are Ernest and Kathryn.

Early in her career, Coupe trained in improvisational comedy at The Groundlings and ImprovOlympic. She toured France in 2003 in an all-female version of King Lear. In 2005, her one-woman sketch show The Patriots premiered at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York, earning her the Breakout Performer Award at HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in 2006. Coupe has had roles in television series such as Scrubs, Happy Endings, Future Man, and Quantico. She starred in Happy Endings from 2011 to 2013, and in Future Man from 2017 to 2020. She also appeared in films like What's Your Number? and Shanghai Calling. Most recently, she was cast in the Fox comedy Pivoting, which aired in 2022 but was cancelled after one season.
