About Diana Sorbello
German singer Diana Sorbello was born on June 27, 1978, in Bocholt, North Rhine-Westphalia. She is a schlager singer, a genre popular in German-speaking countries. Diana studied sociology, pedagogy, and civil rights at the University of Münster from 1998 to 2003. Her path to music began earlier, when she was discovered by a member of the pop group Wind in 1996. The following year, she signed her first record contract with Koch International, releasing her debut song "Ich will zurück zu dir" under the name Diana.
Her debut album, Bittersüß ("Bittersweet"), came out in 2006. It includes a cover of the 1970s hit "Ich fange nie mehr was an einem Sonntag an," originally sung by Swiss schlager singer Monica Morell. That same year, Diana released the soccer anthem "Wir schwenken die Fahnen (Schwarz Rot Gold)," a cover of Slade's "My Oh My." In 2008, she covered the 1980s hit "Sarà perché ti amo" by Ricchi e Poveri, releasing it in German as "Das ist weil ich dich liebe." She has also worked in fashion: in 2006, she designed a collection for the German firm KiK Textilien und Non-Food GmbH, which included the so-called "Fußball-Bikini" (soccer bikini).
Since 2001, Diana has performed live about 30 to 40 times a year at various festivities. Her shows, typically 20 to 30 minutes long, feature both her own songs and famous pop classics. She is a slim, brown-eyed, brown-haired artist with a natural 34D bust. Now 48, Diana remains an active performer in the schlager scene.
