Biography
About Dian Parkinson
Dian Parkinson is an 80 year old former beauty pageant contestant, Playboy model, and TV host, best remembered as a Barker's Beauty on The Price Is Right. She was born on Friday, 30th of November 1945, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, United States. Parkinson is American, of Caucasian ethnicity, and stands at 5'7" with a slim build. Her blonde hair and blue eyes were her signature look during her decades on screen.
Parkinson's career began early. In 1965, while living in Falls Church, Virginia, she won the Miss District of Columbia USA title and competed in the Miss USA 1965 pageant as Diana Batts, placing fourth runner-up. That same year she won the Miss World USA contest and went on to represent the United States in the international Miss World pageant, finishing as first runner-up. She also traveled with the Bob Hope USO Show, including performances in Vietnam in late December 1965, and served as Queen of the 1965 Bob Hope Desert Classic golf tournament.
From 1975 to 1993, Parkinson was a model on The Price Is Right, frequently appearing in the 'Price Is Right Department Store' Showcase as the elevator operator and operating the Bump pricing game. Her 18 year tenure on the show was among the longest of any model. She left in 1993, with Bob Barker announcing she was departing 'to pursue other interests.' The following year, she filed a lawsuit against Barker for sexual harassment, claiming a forced sexual relationship; the suit was withdrawn in April 1995 due to cost and health toll.
Parkinson was also the cover girl for Playboy in December 1991 and May 1993, with nude pictorials in both issues, and she appeared in a feature publication and a Celebrity Centerfold video. She retired from the public eye after these ventures, leaving a lasting legacy as a television and modeling icon.
