Debbie Boostrom

In her early adult years, Debbie and her then-boyfriend took a road trip across the United States, camping in mountains and deserts before settling in La Jolla, California, where she found the beach lifestyle she wanted. Her modeling career began when she was selected as Playboy's Playmate of the Month in August 1981, photographed by Mario Casilli. The same year, her centerfold appeared in Playboy editions in Australia, France, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the US. She was 26 when she started modeling and was active from 1981 to 1983. She was straight, and her boobs were real and natural.

After her Playmate year, Debbie married a beer distributor and moved to Kansas, but the marriage ended in divorce, and she returned to Florida. She then focused on jewelry design and acted in infomercials. She preferred a quiet life and enjoyed hobbies like macramé, needlepoint, and cooking, especially lasagna. Her family was very supportive, and her grandmother was proud of her Playboy work. Debbie's dream of a happy marriage and a large family never came to be, as she did not remarry and had no known children.

Tragically, Debbie died on July 29, 2008, at age 53, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She had been battling terminal breast cancer, which was reportedly the reason for her decision. Her death ended the life of a beloved Playmate who is remembered for her natural beauty and her down-to-earth personality. She will always be known as Miss August 1981.
