Edited by the community

Dara Torres is an American former competitive swimmer who competed from 1983 to 2012, a career spanning 29 years. Over that time she won 12 Olympic medals, including four gold, four silver, and four bronze, making her one of only three women with the most Olympic swimming medals. She is the first swimmer to represent the United States in five Olympic Games, and at age 41 she became the oldest swimmer to earn a place on the U.S. Olympic team. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, she won silver medals in all three of her events: the 50-meter freestyle, the 4x100-meter medley relay, and the 4x100-meter freestyle relay.

Torres also holds the distinction of being a former world record-holder in three events. She won at least one medal in each of the five Olympics she competed in, a feat achieved by only a handful of Olympians. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, she won five medals and was the oldest member of the U.S. swim team. She stands 5'11" and has blonde hair.
