About Connie Britton
Connie Britton, born Constance Womack in Boston, Massachusetts, has built a career across television and film. She is best known for her portrayal of Tami Taylor on the drama series Friday Night Lights, a role that earned her two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Interestingly, she also appeared in the Friday Night Lights film, but as a different character, Sharon Gaines. Her other notable roles include Nikki Faber on Spin City and Dr. Gwendoline "Gwen" Holbrook in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Britton's early life took her from Boston to Lynchburg, Virginia, when she was seven. She attended E. C. Glass High School and later majored in Asian Studies at Dartmouth College. After graduating in 1989, she moved to New York City, where she spent two years at the Neighborhood Playhouse studying with Sanford Meisner. During that time, she made her New York theatrical debut in Caroline Kava's The Early Girl, a performance that nearly got her removed from the program because students were prohibited from taking professional work. She went on to spend two more years in off-Broadway productions before relocating to Los Angeles.
Over the years, Britton has had a variety of roles, including a recurring part as Diane Huxley on 24 and appearances on The West Wing. She is 5'8" with a slim build, red hair, and hazel eyes. A natural redhead, she has no tattoos or piercings. She is American and continues to act, with a career spanning over three decades. In her personal time, she enjoys hiking, yoga, and volunteer work, splitting her residence between New York and Los Angeles.
