About Christina Chong
Christina Chong is perhaps best known for playing La'an Noonien-Singh in the hit series "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," a role she has held since 2022. But her path to the bridge of the Enterprise was anything but direct. Born on 18 September 1983 in Enfield, Greater London, England, she is British with a mixed-race heritage (primarily Asian), the daughter of a Chinese father and an English mother. Growing up in Broxbourne as one of six siblings, her family relocated to Longridge after her parents' separation, where she and her siblings were the only mixed-race children at their local school.
Her early passion was dance, which led her to the Sutcliffe School of Dance in Longridge. At 14, she won a place at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London, where she trained for five years. After graduating, she landed a role in Elton John's "Aida" in Berlin, but an injury cut short her musical theatre ambitions. She pivoted to acting, studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City. Back in London, she took minor roles and commercials to make ends meet, taught acting in schools, and even invested in her father's Chinese restaurant in Harpenden during those early, challenging days.
Chong's television credits include "Black Mirror" (2013) and "24: Live Another Day" (2014), and she appeared in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." She is also a musician, releasing the E.P. "Twin Flames" in 2023. She keeps her personal life private; she has reportedly dated Spanish model and actor Iggy Blanco, but currently she is single and focused on her career. Standing 5'4" with a slim build and natural 34A bust, she brings a petite, dynamic presence to her roles.
