Christie Brinkley is an American supermodel and actress whose career has spanned more than five decades. Born Christie Lee Hudson on February 2, 1954, in Monroe, Michigan, she moved to Los Angeles as a child after her parents divorced. Her mother later married television producer Don Brinkley, and Christie adopted his surname. She attended Palisades High School and Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, graduating in 1972, before moving to Paris at 18 to study art. There, in 1973, photographer Errol Sawyer scouted her in a post office, leading to a contract with Elite Model Management.
Brinkley rose to fame in the late 1970s and 1980s as a Supermodel, appearing on over 500 magazine covers, including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She made history with three consecutive Sports Illustrated covers in 1979, 1980, and 1981, a first for the magazine. Her campaigns included a 25-year contract with CoverGirl, as well as work with Chanel and Prell, and she walked runways for Halston and Bill Blass. She continued modeling into her later years, appearing in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in 2017 at age 63 and Vogue Italia in 2023.
Brinkley also ventured into acting, with roles in National Lampoon's Vacation (1983), Vegas Vacation (1997), and Jack and Jill (2011). She starred in Billy Joel's music videos, including "Uptown Girl" (1983), and appeared on TV shows like Mad About You, Parks and Recreation, and Nightcap. She competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2019 but withdrew due to injury. Her personal life included four marriages, with children Alexa Ray Joel, Jack, and Sailor Cook.
