Chandra Wilson

American actress Chandra Wilson is best known for playing Dr. Miranda Bailey on Grey's Anatomy since 2005, a role that earned her four Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She made her New York stage debut in 1991 and soon landed guest spots on prime-time TV. Her first film appearance came in the 1993 drama Philadelphia.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Wilson's mother, a postal worker, enrolled her in a wide range of after-school activities. "Starting at age four, my mom decided that she was not going to have an idle child in the house," Wilson recalls. "So I started taking dance lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and then I was in acting classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and I was also modeling on Saturdays. And that was my childhood." That early schedule set the course for a career that has now spanned over three decades. At 5'0" with a chubby build, Wilson stands out in a field where taller actresses are common. She has black hair, brown eyes, and natural 40C breasts. Since 1991, she has remained active in both television and film.
