About Caylee Hammack
Caylee Hammack is an American country music singer-songwriter from Ellaville, Georgia. She started playing music at age 13, self-taught by listening to country radio and singing along. She didn't have formal music education or vocal lessons early on. At 15, she had to turn down potential tennis scholarships after surgery to remove a tumor. Her first song, "Addictive," was written about the pain pills she took after that surgery.
In 2018, she signed with Capitol Nashville. Her debut single "Family Tree" dropped on January 18, 2019, and became the most-added debut song by a female artist at country radio in three years. On May 29, 2019, she performed it on the Today show, marking her national television debut. That year she opened for Lanco, Dierks Bentley, Trisha Yearwood, and Miranda Lambert.
Hammack wrote "Small Town Hypocrite" during her staff writer days, with Jared Scott, about a breakup with a cheating boyfriend. That relationship eventually led her to Nashville. She later discovered he lived in a double-wide trailer, which made it into the final verse. Released on February 21, 2020, the song earned praise, and Chris Stapleton agreed to sing on a re-release in 2021. In February 2020, she learned of her first ACM nomination for New Female Artist of the Year while waiting at an airport.
