Biography

About Carol Vitale

Edited by the community

Carol Vitale is best remembered as Playboy's Playmate of the Month for July 1974, a distinction that came nearly a year after she appeared on the cover of the August 1972 issue. That cover, shot by photographer David Chan, showed her floating on a rabbit-head-shaped innertube in the ocean while wearing a white bikini. She was an American model with blonde hair and brown eyes, standing 5'6" and weighing 114 lbs, with measurements of 37–22–35. Her figure was slim and natural, with a 34C bra cup.

Before her Playmate feature, Vitale worked as a Bunny at the Miami Playboy Club, where she caught the magazine's attention. In the early 1980s, she shifted her focus to broadcasting, learning the trade at KIIS-FM, a Los Angeles radio station. That experience led to her own talk show, The Carol Vitale Show. Alongside her media career, she also designed lingerie for Frederick's of Hollywood.

She passed away on July 23, 2008, at her condo in Aventura, Florida, at age 61, due to complications from lupus, scleroderma, and osteoporosis. Her legacy includes three Playboy pictorials and multiple international editions of her Playmate title: Playboy USA, France, Germany, and Italy, all for July 1974.
