Brittney Griner

Griner's professional achievements are extensive. She was the first overall pick in the 2013 WNBA draft by the Phoenix Mercury, with whom she won the 2014 WNBA championship. She is a six-time WNBA All-Star and a two-time Olympic gold medalist with the U.S. women's national team. In 2023, Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Her basketball prowess is matched by her physical attributes: black hair, brown eyes, and a body type that is athletic. She also has enhanced breasts, a detail she has been open about, especially following a double mastectomy.

Griner's life took a dramatic turn in February 2022 when she was detained in Russia on drug charges. She was arrested after cartridges containing less than a gram of medically prescribed hash oil were found in her luggage. She had been playing in the Russian Premier League during the WNBA off-season. She pled guilty, was sentenced to nine years in prison, and was later transferred to a penal colony. The U.S. government deemed her wrongfully detained. In December 2022, she was released in a prisoner exchange for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout. Her ordeal brought international attention to her case and highlighted the risks athletes face when playing abroad. She has since returned to the WNBA, continuing her career with a resilience that mirrors her athletic strength.
