Barbara Hillary

Barbara Hillary is best known as Playboy's Playmate of the Month for April 1970, a milestone that set her apart in the magazine's history. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she studied speech and English at Marquette University and later worked at the Playboy Club in New York City. Her centerfold was photographed by Pompeo Posar.

Before her modeling career, Barbara led an adventurous life. She worked as a Girl Scout leader in Alaska, where she once had a close encounter with a black bear. To save money for college, she hitchhiked over 300 miles. She was the middle sibling of five children. After her time in the spotlight, she became a registered nurse and spent several years volunteering in the Philippines, assisting with cataract surgeries for the poor.
