Barbara Hershey

With a height of 5'6" and an average build, Barbara Hershey has been a presence in Hollywood for over six decades. She was born in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, into a family with diverse roots. Her father, a horse racing columnist, came from a Jewish family with Hungarian and Russian origins, while her mother had English and Scots-Irish ancestry from Arkansas.

Her career began in 1966, when she was around 18 years old. She gained critical acclaim in the late 1980s with roles in films like "The Stunt Man," "The Right Stuff," "The Natural," and "Hannah and Her Sisters." She won two consecutive Best Actress awards at the Cannes Film Festival for "Shy People" and "A World Apart," a feat that was a first in the festival's history. She also earned an Emmy and a Golden Globe for "A Killing in a Small Town," and a Gemini Award for "Anne of Green Gables."

In the 1990s, she returned to television with performances in "Paris Trout," "Return to Lonesome Dove," and "Chicago Hope." She was nominated for an Academy Award for "The Portrait of a Lady." Her recent work includes "Black Swan" and "Insidious." She resides in Los Angeles.
