Asami Jo

Asami Jo's career took a notable turn in 1995 when she joined the cast of TV Tokyo's late-night variety show Gilgamesh Night. Her energetic personality resonated with viewers, and she eventually became the show's host from July 1997 until its end. In October 1995, she made her AV debut with the label Alice JAPAN, initially using the name Ayuko Kokuritsu before adopting the stage name Asami Jo. Her transition from mainstream commercials to adult video caused a stir, and her filmography, though brief, consisting of approximately 10 to 11 titles over ten months, was primarily story-driven and soft. Her bold performances, contrasting her girl-next-door TV image, were highly sought after, leading to reports of unauthorized uncensored versions.

After retiring from the AV industry, Asami Jo returned to mainstream acting. She appeared in TV dramas in 1996 and is best remembered by tokusatsu fans for her role in Denji Sentai Megaranger (1997-1998) as Shiborena, the villainous female executive. She continued working in V-Cinema, film cameos, and gravure photo books. Her final confirmed credit was in the 1999 crossover film Seijuu Sentai Gingaman vs. Megaranger, where she was credited as Yumi Kayama. Since 1999, she has remained out of the public eye, with only rumors about her marriage and retirement, and no official details confirmed.
