About Annette Bening
Annette Bening is an American actress with a career that has spanned more than four decades, earning her a BAFTA Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and four Academy Award nominations. She also received a Primetime Emmy nomination and two Tony nominations. Born on May 29, 1958, in Topeka, Kansas, she began acting on stage with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival in 1980. She made her Broadway debut in 1987 in Coastal Disturbances, earning a Tony nomination. Her film roles include The Grifters, American Beauty, Being Julia, and The Kids Are All Right, each of which earned her an Oscar nomination. She also appeared in Captain Marvel and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
Bening's stage work extends beyond Broadway. She played Lady Macbeth in 1984 at the American Conservatory Theater and took on the title role in Hedda Gabler in 1999. In 2019, she returned to Broadway in All My Sons, again earning a Tony nomination. She played the Supreme Intelligence and Mar-Vell in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Captain Marvel. She has served as Vice Chair of the board of trustees for The Actors Fund. She has been married to actor Warren Beatty since 1992, and they have four children.
