American actress Amy Adams was born in Vicenza, Italy, on Tuesday, August 20, 1974, and raised in Castle Rock, Colorado. She is the fourth of seven siblings. Adams trained as a ballerina during high school, singing in the choir and apprenticing with a local dance company, but at age 18 she found musical theater a better fit. From 1994 to 1998, she worked in dinner theater. She made her feature film debut in the 1999 satire Drop Dead Gorgeous. After moving to Los Angeles, she took on "mean girl" parts in small-scale features and made guest appearances on television.
