About Amie Harwick
Slim and brown-eyed, with brown hair, Amie Harwick built a career that moved from the fringes of entertainment to the heart of clinical practice. Raised in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, she relocated to Los Angeles in 2001, working as a personal trainer, dancer, bartender, and model before settling on therapy as her path. She earned a degree in psychology from California State Polytechnic University, a master's in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University, and later a PhD from the non-accredited Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. With that education, she practiced as a marriage and family therapist, focusing on family and sex counseling, and became known for her work with clients in West Hollywood.
Harwick authored The New Sex Bible for Women: The Complete Guide to Sexual Self-Awareness and Intimacy (2014), a book that reflected her specialty. She shared her insights on podcasts, TV, and a YouTube channel, building a public presence that included a brief engagement in 2018 to comedian and actor Drew Carey. In her final years, she contributed to Pineapple Support, a nonprofit offering mental health assistance to adult film industry members, and sat on the board of Rock to Recovery, which uses music therapy to treat addiction and mental health issues.
Her life ended tragically at age 38. On Saturday, February 15, 2020, she was murdered by an ex-boyfriend at her Hollywood Hills apartment. The killer was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Amie Harwick's story remains one of professional achievement cut short, remembered through her books, her advocacy, and the lives she touched.
