About Amber Balcaen
Amber Balcaen is a Canadian race car driver, business woman, and influencer from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She began racing at ten years old, driving go-karts on dirt tracks around North Dakota. At sixteen, she bought her first lightning sprint car and became the first female driver to win a dirt track racing championship in Manitoba. Her early success led to a full-time schedule in the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association in 2014, where she won Rookie of the Year.
Balcaen's career took a significant turn when she caught the attention of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program. In 2016, she drove in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and made history as the first female Canadian driver to win a NASCAR-sanctioned race in the United States, winning at Motor Mile Speedway. She earned eleven top fives in her first season, taking Rookie of the Year honors, and won again at the same track the following year. She went on to compete in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, the CARS Super Late Model Tour, and the POWRi Midget Racing Series. In 2021, she made her ARCA Menards Series West debut, and in 2022, she ran the full ARCA Menards Series season, earning six top tens and finishing seventh in points.
A serious crash in 2020 at Valley Speedway caused collapsed lungs, a severe concussion, and burns to her arms, putting her career on hold for three months. She returned to racing and continued to compete at a high level. Beyond driving, Balcaen has co-hosted the TV series "Cars of Rock" with AC/DC's Brian Johnson, appeared as a main cast member on the NASCAR reality show Racing Wives, and worked as a spokesperson for Kal Tire. She is also a motivational speaker, helping people around the world achieve their goals. With 152,000 Instagram followers, she continues to inspire fans both on and off the track.
