Amal Alamuddin

Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) is a British barrister and lawyer who has built a career defending high-profile clients around the world. Her client list includes former Maldivian president Mohamed Nasheed, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, and Nobel laureate Nadia Murad. She has also represented journalists such as Maria Ressa, Khadija Ismayilova, and Mohamed Fahmy in sensitive cases.

She has held appointments with the UK government and the United Nations, and she teaches as an adjunct law professor at Columbia Law School. In 2014, she married actor George Clooney. Two years later, the couple co-founded the Clooney Foundation for Justice. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, she is of Middle Eastern ethnicity and holds British nationality.
