Alia Shawkat

Shawkat is mixed-race, primarily Middle Eastern, and identifies as bisexual. She is also a devoted artist beyond acting; she enjoys singing, drawing, and painting. Occasionally she sings jazz standards in jazz bars, a repertoire she credits to her grandfather. At one point she attempted to learn welding, hoping to create metal sculptures, but she emphasizes the importance of pursuing different art forms, saying, "They feed each other. If I didn't have the other ones, I don't think I could just act." In November 2023, she gave birth to her first child, adding a new chapter to her personal life.

With 27 years of active work, Shawkat has carved out a distinctive niche, balancing mainstream roles with independent projects. Her average build, brown hair, and brown eyes are unassuming, but her performances often leave a lasting impression. She is also known for her natural on-screen presence, having appeared in top-only nude scenes. Her height is 5'5", and she maintains a down-to-earth approach to her craft. Whether on screen or behind the camera, she continues to explore new creative avenues, driven by a curiosity that defines her career.
