Biography
About Alexa Havins
Alexa Havins is an American actress who made her name in daytime television, first as the originating Babe Carey Chandler on All My Children in 2003. She stayed with the role until 2007, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination and a Soap Opera Digest Award along the way. What many fans may not know is that she started as a professional dancer before switching to acting, a career change she has defended with a firm principle: "Always hold on to your morals and values because this business can be very deceiving. I turned down a lot of things because there was nudity required." That stance has guided her choices ever since.
Her time on All My Children put her in the middle of a groundbreaking crossover storyline with One Life to Live, where she also appeared as the same character. Her on-screen partnership with Jacob Young's JR Chandler drew particular praise; Soapcentral called their chemistry "simply sizzling and truly magnetizing." While still under contract, she branched out into film, appearing in the 2004 horror-comedy Joe Killionaire, the 2005 romantic comedy First Kiss, the 2006 horror Joshua, and the off-beat comedy Fat Girls. She also guest-starred on Rescue Me in 2006 and on an unaired pilot called On and Off.
Stage work included portrayals of Laura in The Glass Menagerie and the lead in The Member of the Wedding. She later appeared in Brooklyn Rules and in 2008's 27 Dresses. In 2011, she joined the main cast of Torchwood: Miracle Day as Esther Drummond, which she described as "an innocent, in a world of assassins, liars and zealots." She also filmed guest spots on CSI: NY and Grey's Anatomy. After a brief return to All My Children, she took a break from television. In September 2024, she joined General Hospital as Lulu Spencer, debuting on November 19 of that year.
On a personal note, Havins has been married to former All My Children co-star Justin Bruening since June 5, 2005. He proposed right after taping a scene where his character proposes to Babe. They have four children together: three daughters and one son. She remains good friends with her on-screen mother, Bobbie Eakes. At 5'2" with brown eyes and blonde hair, she continues to work steadily in the industry she entered after turning down roles that conflicted with her values.
