About Alex Morgan
Alex Morgan rewrote the record books of American soccer. She became the youngest member of the U.S. women's national team in 2009 and was the first overall pick in the 2011 Women's Professional Soccer draft. With her blazing speed and auburn hair trailing behind, she earned Olympic gold in 2012, helped claim the 2015 World Cup after an injury, and tied for the tournament high with six goals in 2019 to secure a second straight crown.
Off the pitch, Morgan's life is equally full. She married soccer player Servando Carrasco on New Year's Eve 2014, a couple who first met at UC Berkeley. Their daughter, Charlie Elena Carrasco, was born on May 7, 2020. She holds a black belt in Kyokoshin karate, which she credits with sharpening her balance, strength, flexibility, and discipline. A vegan since 2017, she was named, along with Kyrie Irving, one of PETA's Most Beautiful Vegan Celebrities of 2019.
Morgan's journey hasn't been without controversy. In October 2017, she was among a group of athletes removed from Epcot after being described as "impaired and verbally aggressive" in a police incident file; no charges were filed, and she later apologized publicly. More constructively, she and teammate Megan Rapinoe became the first U.S. female players to join the Common Goal campaign, donating 1% of their wages to soccer-related charities. In January 2016, her hometown of Diamond Bar gave her the key to the city. Nicknamed "Baby Horse" by her national teammates for her speed and youth, the former footballer now commands 9.4 million Instagram followers and remains an influential voice in sports and beyond.
