About Akyli Maze
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on a Saturday in September 2007, Akyli Maze is the creator behind a YouTube presence that reaches millions. The oldest daughter in the MAZELEE family channel, she has grown up on camera, appearing in videos that document the everyday life of a large, close-knit household. Her family's channel has attracted more than 2.5 million subscribers, and one of their most-watched uploads, a 2020 video titled "Our Family's Hair Wash Day Routine. 7 Kids 7 Different Hair Types," has been viewed over 12.5 million times.
Akyli's first brush with YouTube came early. She debuted in a 2010 video captioned "Akyli As a BABY Dance to My Dougie," a slice of family footage that hinted at her love of performance. Beyond the screen, she is an athlete and an artist, balancing her online life with physical activity and creative expression. The channel's most popular videos often feature her and her sisters in dance recitals; one such clip has amassed over 9 million views, showing that the family's appeal extends well beyond hair care routines.
As the second oldest of seven children, Akyli has plenty of company. Her siblings are Amyah, Azaio, Arazo, Ajedi, Ajoui, and Baby, and the family operates as a unit, with her parents, Alena Maze and Joe Lee, steering the ship. Akyli shares the spotlight with other young creators from large social media families, such as Txunamy, but her own path is defined by her versatility: she sings, dances, runs track, and makes art. Her story is still unfolding, but her foundation is firmly rooted in family, creativity, and a willingness to share it all with the world.
